Summer break means Brooklyn gets in on calls now too! <3

Not a ton of time today on a phone call from Sister Garcia but that is 100% okay. She was spending her Pday with the Zone and participating in her last Zone Pday of her entire mission! Holy cow that is nuts! She seems to be handling it well enough and as always, I really enjoy watching as she interacts with other missionaries who pop in and out of the phone call with us. 

Sister Garcia is busy working on My Plan. It has her thinking all kinds of things about home which is a little frustrating for me as a Mom only because I don't want her distracted as she rounds into home with her time as a missionary. But she talked today about what school will look like, what about Institute? How does work come into play? She is starting to see the next phase of life coming in hot right before her eyes. We talked a little about how school can work with a job. Covid did have some benefits in that a lot of colleges now offer online and so she can work and go to school and have it all line up in her schedule how she sees fit. We talked about the Summer and some plans that we have on the calendar already and what else she is thinking she wants to do. We talked about her homecoming talk and the day that is planned for. (July 10 by the way!) All in all, when it comes to being a missionary she wants to finish strong and not come across as 'trunky' in any way but she does say she recognizes that thoughts are definitely more towards home most days. I imagine this is VERY normal for all missionaries as they near the end. Especially for those who have worked their guts out day in and day out like she has. 

The trio of Sisters she is in is 'working'. Sister Garcia is definitely learning patience on this last transfer of hers. :) A lot of it mostly is just difference in doing and approaching the work as a whole. Sister Bradford (her companion) is only on her 2nd transfer as an STL and is slow in most processes. For example, weekly training this week took forever according to Sister Garcia. There was also some frustration when they were out this week when Sister Bradford asked Sister Garcia which way they should go in order to meet up with a friend they are working with. Sister Garcia said that she told her she trusted her since she has been in this area and put it back on her as the trainer. Essentially right now, Sister Garcia is a glorified babysitter for her companion as she continues to learn the ropes as an STL but also trains a new missionary who just arrived. I imagine this is more than a little hard. Sister Garcia is a hard worker and wants to be boots to the ground digging in and sharing the Gospel. Instead, she is just overseeing someone else trying to do that same thing. So patience is the last lesson the Lord wants to instill in her as He has her finish up His work. 

They have had a ton of rain this past week as well! So much so that sadly people have died and others have lost homes. Sister Garcia said it didn't matter how much they tried to stay out of it,  they still ended up drenched! Even through all the rain though, she was able to make her way back to Carpina for a day and she loved that.

We still have no flight plans for when Sister Garcia will arrive home. It is more than annoying. I need to get on the phone and call Mission Travel downtown and ask them just what in the literal heck. They have had 18 months afterall to get this together! :) Sister Garcia is doing well overall and is happy. She is struggling to sleep here and there and is going to maybe consider some chamomile tea but she just isn't there yet. I hope that whatever is bogging down her mind will settle and these next few weeks will be full of peace.

Good morning Brothers and Sisters. I am excited to be here with you this morning. Not because I up here speaking but because we are here to listen to Kaitlyn report on her mission which means she is actually home! Week 1 Email: I have a new Mom

Well now it's Sister Garcia ;) I'm officially a missionary, which is so crazy to think about! During the online MTC my Pdays are Saturdays so you can expect an update from me every Saturday for the next 6 weeks. The CTM has been amazing so far! :) If I'm being honest I was super nervous to start and I didn't really know what to expect from it, but I'm so glad I've been able to do my training at home. My schedule that I was sent was all in Brazil time and it said that most of my classes were to start at 8:30am. I don't know if any of you know this, but Brazil is 4 hours ahead of Utah, you can do that math, it was supposed to be early!
